Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a doozey of a report from the 2 ½ hour long Warner Bros panel. Tons of stuff, so no bullshit chatter up front. Let’s get down to it.

Hey folks, Harry here with Richard Kelly's long awaited BOX trailer. I saw this a few days ago, 'round the time that Beaks put his interview with Richard up, but I knew the trailer was coming up soon, so why not just wait for it to hit for everyone. The initial hook - press the button and someone you do not know dies and you get $1 million. I don't know. My initial impulse is to press the button all day everyday for a month. But I bet there'd be some pretty dire consequences. And I'd probably end up regretting it.

After wrestling with the philosophy of time travel in DONNIE DARKO and the addled state of a partially nuked America in SOUTHLAND TALES, writer-director Richard Kelly has done the unthinkable with THE BOX. He's kept it simple.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I read an early draft of THE BOX and I can tell you that Frank Langella will rule in this movie. His role is that of the mysteriously evil fucker that delivers this box to Cameron Diaz's character and her character. If he appears as he does in the early version I read, then it'll be a hell of an entrance.

That means they have some financing to produce some projects, which hopefully means it's easier for Kelly to get some of his off-the-wall-but-sweet-ass scripts off the ground.
Already on the docket for Darko Entertainment is THE BOX, which he's doing with Cameron Diaz in the lead, although I think that's getting its funding from another source.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now, I've read the script for Richard Kelly's THE BOX and it's strong. Really strong. If you're not familiar with the project, it's based on a Richard Matheson scripted episode of THE TWILIGHT ZONE about a box concealing a button. It is given to a couple that is told they will be paid life-changing money if they press the button, but with the knowledge that if the button is pressed then someone will die. The presser of the button will not know the person killed, but by pressing the button they are in fact killing someone.
