Shame about the religious allegory. Hope it gets put back in. Also, little worried that one of their characters' names is "dork" spelled backwards. Like insulting your target audience is actually funny. Besides "Keeg" or "Dren" would have been funnier.

Not in any massive, capacity, just in office payroll and stuff. Anyway, the general word on the inside is...if you want to know how NOT to make a movie, learn from these guys. It's been a horrible process for him and for all his crew. Now, that being said, the same words were spoken about the first two X Men movies and they actually turned out pretty kick ass.

I will literally beat the fuck out of someone. Seriously. If upon walking out of the auditorium after seeing the first showing available to me my mind has not been blown, fucked, sucked and swallowed I will grab the closest person of my size nearby and proceed to get thrown into jail for assault. That is how much TRON means to me. My connection to that movie borders on the religious. Yes, I am a sick fuck who by all rights should be locked up in a room alone all day and slipped beef jerkey and a tube to drink warm water through. But a motherfucker or two will indeed lose teeth if this film does not stand shoulder to shoulder with the original. And to those who will anonymously talk their shit on here... trust me, you wouldn't say one ill word about the original TRON around me if we were face to face. I am going to go get high now. If when I come back anyone has the balls to talk shit about TRON and include their name and address, I will come to where you live and punish your eyeballs with my fingertips and your women with my genitals.

I think you may be my hero. I think it will still be good. There were hacking scenes in the original where they showed the programmer, then the program doing the programmer's bidding. It does need the religious allegory though. It's going to be hard for Daft Punk to beat Wendy Carlos.

Look, I LOVES me some TRON - it's one of the most imaginative and amazing movies of the 80s - but if the sequel flops, you still have the original. Besides, Bridges wouldn't get involved if it was shit. He's a huge fan of TRON.

I feel like I should say, I was saying that people on the inside are not happy with the process. That doesn't mean the movie is going to suck (that's why I brought up X-men, which had the same issue). And yes, you are right, I'm not on the inside. But my boy has never steered me wrong (and he's not just some guy they bring in. here's there day one). thank you though for respectfully disagreeing as opposed to calling me a goat fucker of some sort as is the norm in talkback world.

when a friend loaned me his old vhs copy. I must say that the costume design and production designs were really cool. Also, it had really good ideas (very ahead of their time imho...), but I have to say what a weak script and mundane direction. And I dont think its aged too well either. So Im wondering if people like tron so much because of nostalgia, or if they truly think its a good film. Would be interested to hear some opinions...

01:30:18 PM
If it was an adaptation of something I've already read or it was a movie I was plainly not planning to see. I get that seeing how a movie develops is interesting but it invites too much second guessing BEFORE you see it because then you develop your own biases for what should have been kept, dropped, more developed etc. instead of evaluating the choices that were made as a total. Instead stuff that goes through iterations (all scripts) get regarded as patchwork Frankensteins when in fact most creative work is done this way. Ugh long rant. Want to see this though and I agree with Zoidberg too. Damn kids.

Never bothered to watch it to the end, even when I was a kid. A stale, plodding, style-over-substance movie that couldn't hold a candle to other popular films of the era. It totally puzzles me why anyone would continue or even remake it. Geez, it's 27 years old, there's hardly a fanbase. Leave it alone.

because u fucking idiots we already live in the 'age of information'.

computers, video games, virtual reality, world wide communincations,'teleportation ',AIs,programs who think, even the techno jargon, and all the rest of the things, they are now parts of our world culture,we are accustomed with all these things, they are part of our life.

they they dont excite us anymore, they dont express something new or different, they are things we already know about, they are things we already live.

but the friggin movie was made 20 years ago,and it gave to the geeks of then generation,na glimpse of the things to come.

and when u r growing up and u see that with u,all these great things are happening, are becoming a reality, they grow together with you, then why is it so fucking strange to have a nostalgia love for that little movie?

This shit pisses me off. Just because someone knows a bit about the thought process that goes into scriptwriting (character invention, creation of events, shit like that) and has the ability to put in some constructive critisizm on it, it automatically means they're failures in life? What the fuck? This shit pisses me off. He does what he does. This stuped ass "get a life" shit. It's 2009. What IS a life anymore? Sports? Nothing more than a game. A job? Not a life. A distraction. A "soulmate"? The OPPOSITE of a life. Those fuckers KEEP you from living your life. What else is there? What the FUCK else is there? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Succumbing to our human instincts have become either illegal, socially unacceptable, or boring so fufilling our purpose as a species ain't happening. What can we do? Give and recieve entertainment. This guy's just making sure the entertainment is ENTERTAINING. What do you do? Make childish remarks about his virginity. Did it never occur to you that we are ALL lifeless nerds? What the fuck are you doing on this website anyway?

He's looked into this what he even admitted he doesn't know what the original intent of the first Tron was and is mad that Tron 2 isn't what he thinks it should be. This is the main problem with most of the people that come to this site. They are so extremely hypercritical and get mad at the creators of these properties to do whatever they want or go wherever they want with a script. Perfect example, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, a perfectly fine summer popcorn movie. It had it's problems but it also had alot of what made the other movies work. And the problems people had with it weren't much different than problems with the other 2 sequels. However, some of these super-sensitive mega-nerds here were so outraged with it that they didn't let themselves enjoy it because it didn't play out exactly the way they thought it should. He's so invested in this playing out the way that he wanted it that his review turned out to be an entire waste of time. His tastes for what this movie should be is soooo specific to him that it's irrelevant to anyone but him. At least with Harry, he gives you all sorts of set up and you don't have to agree with his reviews to find out if you'll like the movie, too. But seriously, do you think any woman would date a guy who cares so much about a almost forgotten sci-fi movie from almost 30 years ago?
