There's a reason Ambush Bug is a C-list character, and this issue just proves it.

maybe if Amanda Conner drew the whole issue, then I'd buy this Ambush Bug thing. But just the cover? Forget it.

I am thinking we might get another shoot on the "Prodigal Son" story line just after Knightfall, where Grayson assumes the mantle of the Bat whilst Wayne is "elsewhere". Either way Denny's two parter will be like gold dust.
Yeah. It's not RIP Batman ... it's going to be RIP Dick Grayson.

I read that Dan Didio said he doesn't get Nightwing as a character and would like to kill off Dick Grayson. That whole storyline exists to kill Dick Grayson because Dan Didio doesn't get it. I'd rather Dan Didio get fired than Dick Grayson get killed to satisfy one person: Dan Didio. Bruce Wayne dying is a red herring ... I'd bet money that it's Dick Grayson that buys the farm.
hmm.. hate to say it..

it was nice seeing ambush bug again, but i kind of think snookeroo is right. i used to rabidly collect every ambush bug comic i could when i was a young teen. i loved it so.

actually thats probably the problem. im not a young teen anymore. so it isnt ambush bug thats changed..it's me.

I'm still busy not caring about this property from 1992. Originality is dead, who in the world is going to buy a Tekwar comic in 2008? They wonder why comics are dying, the last new good idea occured somewhere in 1989. And this is coming from someone who loves Trek and loves Shatner.
Grayson isn't getting killed.

Absolutely not. Didio doesn't like him, but the fans love Nightwing and Didio wouldn't mandate something that stupid, having already screwed Final Crisis with his pair of year-long New Gods series. Grayson isn't dying, and neither is Batman.

Although, by the time it's all said and done, Batman returns as an immortal.

Great preview! I forgot just how damn good that comic is. And the coloring looks pretty. Definitely gonna to have to get it now. I agree X-O Manowar was top class but I always liked Shadowman too.

Valiant's Archer & Armstrong was such a fun series and a real entertaining read. City of Dust's painted look is really great.

The first issue was awesome, but the second issue was AALLL over the place. I had no idea who was talking, who was doing what. Big let down, still gonna finish the series, but maybe they should have done a ten part because issue two just jumped like 3 plot points from frame to frame each time.

Hugely disappointed with Freedom Formula. I have to say its been that way with all that companys books...still like Hercules though. have a soft spot for that character, maybe thats why i like x-o manowar so much!

he's going to be the new Bats, and Damien le neuveau robin. At least thats what a solicit for a couple months down indicates. Also, in typical scheduling fuck-ups, they sort of ruined R.I.P. ahead of time by showing in Outsiders that Bat took the Suit of Sorrows from its case. The suit made him go apeshit last time and nearly turn him into a murderer... so I'm guessing he's gonna kill someone real close to him, which prompts him to freak out and drop the cowl... until sales start to slump

That's not just any ditzy blond, Snookums, it's Dumb Bunny from The Inferior Five. Your knowledge of DC history is almost as lacking as your sense of humor. Ambush Bug was never meant to be an A-list character. He's the DCU's Alfred E. Neuman.

Yeah, I know -- Dumb Bunny, Merryman, the Blimp, etc. I have the Inferior Five Showcase issue from 1966. And yes, I've been collecting DC that long. The "I got drunk and married a bimbo in Vegas" gag was old then. This issue is a none-too-disguised pandering to the fanboys.

If the issue gives you a few laughs -- cool.

Everyone thinks Batman is dead, but he's not. The Bethlehem story in Batman #666 points toward Grayson taking over the mantle with Damien as Robin; then Grayson getting killed while being Batman.

Then Bruce returns as Batman, who everyone thought was dead, but was not as he bathed in the waters of life in Nanda Parbat during the Ressurection of Rha's Al Ghul.

The one thing missing from this story... Tim Drake.

It's Ambush Bug. Lighten the fuck up.

That said, this new series is really random as compared to some of the old stuff, even for Ambush Bug. It's like Giffen is deliberately penciling the strangest sequence of events he can think of just to challenge Fleming to make some sense out of it.

The big question about Ambush Bug is...

I'm way more excited by R.I.P. than Secret Invasion or Final Crisis. I read all the Morrison issues in a row recently, and it's a great fucking story.
