...but this sounds intriguing. Where can I get this kind of stuff without a road trip? Online somewhere?
the mix of 2d and 3d is distracting in animation.

The sypnosis of the film is certainly intriguing, which is why I chose to go see it. I mean why wouldn't I want to see the GiTS creators next flick about a world where war is solely fought by the corporations (it's at least believeable these days isn't it?)? Howver this one is so forced. Oshii is trying so hard to make so many of the scenes profound and...they just aren't. Frankly the only thing profound here is the amount of silence in it's 2 hours. Oshii shows countless scenes with zero dialog and only the faintest of background sound and then has the audacity to structure the plot in such a way that you're expected to be surprised when key elements are revealed, which since you have so much time to think in every other dialogless scene you'll figure out in the first 20 minutes. Some of the 3D is neat and it's not as distracting as the first couple minutes but this was a noon screening, my 2nd of 30 this year and I was struggling to stay awake. Even the applause in the overly kind Toronto was delayed and smattering. That's not good.
