Clash Of The Titans is a quality piece of trashy fun, and if anyone can do justice to a remake Leterrier can.

Go, Leterrier! We have no one left to root for but you (until James Cameron comes back).

Leterrier is a competent action director. If the script is as good as the rumors, this could be a really fun movie. While I have nostalgic love for the original, I've always wanted to see a Greek Mythology movie done right.

No, sir. They need the fake Shia- Michael Angarano. He is just as annoying but hasn't played a wannabe Greaser.

Love the original. Harryhausen is one of my biggest influences as an animator, but I see no harm in doing an update to this movie. Greek mythology, or any ancient mythology, begs to be portrayed cinematically. Should be a decent remake with Letterier and Kasdan on board.

ya true that... but a ninja scroll movie could be done right... the problem is that the chance of a good director/producer/cast coming together for it is not very good at least right now.

I haven't seen any gushing about it since it came out like 2 weeks ago. After that weekend it seemed like it got forgotten on the TBs. Although, it has been doing steady business here in the UK.

I had the pleasure of working on the HULK last summer, and I just gotta say that Louis Leterrier is an amazing guy. The coolest Director I have ever met. Nice to everyone, and just a genuinely good person. I hope to see his name attached to more projects in the future.

And yes, I'm posting this in every TB today, for those that call Stephen Sommers a hack, on the set of GI JOE, he instructed Sienna Miller to wear fake breasts as her own cleavage was not big enough for him. According to Miller: "I wear a tight black leather outfit. And much bigger boobs... They gave me these things that looked like chicken fillets. The director said, 'I'm gonna be honest, I like girls with big boobs,' and I don't have them so we made them bigger... At least he's honest. But I was mildly offended."
Just please don't let it be...

Wait. Shia is a dude? who knew? I've been betting She-Ra Le'poof is the next OD'd celeb. Come'on She-Ra do another line for me. Shia is the "Corey" of the 2k's. Once you barf into the bag it's hard to get it back into your stomach. So, in Hollywood they just use that old barf-bag for lube. Sometime a producer needs a handjob, ok it's daily, but the point is - Fuck that snot-nosed punk ass no-talent boy-bitch wannabee Corey Haim knock-off, he smells like a rancid canned ham that's been pissed on by an ensyphilitic bum when you approach him because his contract with Satan was poorly worded. Strangely enough that's the same smell that wafts out of the Coldplay trailer.

I love the original CLASH OF THE TITANS. But like I've said since the CLASH remake rumors started, this is exactly the sort of remake that Hollywood SHOULD consider.

As much as I love Ray Harryhausen's effects, a story using Greek mythology would benefit from the technical advances of the intervening decades. Even script-wise and casting-wise, the original had a lot of flaws, though I still love it.

As for Leterrier being the best guy for this, well, I really don't know enough about the guy's work to comment. I wish him luck and hope that this does well so we can get more Greek mythological films in the pipeline.

I love Clash of the Titans but when I watch that funny owl... all I can see is 3PO and R2D2 all in one body! The score is pretty much Star Warsish too. (and don't forget the usuals: old bearded sidekick, princess to save, sword fight, father/son story etc...) I just hope they will come with new ideas for this remake.

Two questions
by Vern
Jun 27th, 2008
12:21:17 PM
1. What did Letterier actually do on TRANSPORTER (the first one)? Every time anybody refers to him they claim he directed the first two TRANSPORTERS, but the first one is credited to Corey Yuen. I thought he was second unit director or something, but if somebody knows for sure please inform me.

2. Will Stephen Norrington ever be rescued from oblivion? I was hoping this would be the one to do it, but I guess not. I know DEATH MACHINE isn't very good, THE LAST MINUTE is a mixed bag and LXG is a piece of garbage, but come on. BLADE is way too good and too unique to be a fluke. There's gotta be at least one more good movie in that guy. I hope he comes back to directing some day.

I worked at a theater when "Clash of the Titans"

came out. Some idiot came to the box office and asked for a ticket to "Crash of the Titanic." He wasn't joking, he was just stupid. And one day some conjoined twins came in, but they saw "The Devil and Max Devlin." Sat in one chair they brought with them.

1. Letterier is credited as artistic director on the first Transporter. I turned the second one off after 20 minutes so I can't say whether Letterier has any real directing chops. I'll be seeing the Incredible Hulk when it hits video so I can evaluate then.

2. Norrington is supposed to be hell to work with. Makes life unbearable for the cast and crew. Sort of like David O. Russell. And I'm opening myself up to all sorts of criticism here, but I actually thought LXG had one or two things going for it, namely how they used practical effects for Mr. Hyde which really impressed me. Couldn't save the movie overall, but it deserves a little credit. Besides, it's Connery's last movie.

Leterrier is good people
by Spandau Belly

01:22:16 PM
I probably won't see his Hulk movie cuz I don't like superhero nonsense, but I love both Transporter flicks and Unleashed, and am a big sucker for this mythological beast type movie to the point where I am actually going to rent 10,000 BC this weekend against my better judgement.

Cory Yuen is also good people. I kinda actually doubt that he directed the first Transporter film. He was probably a glofified fight choreographer with Leterrier standing near the camera and Luc Besson standing slightly closer but nobody can say for sure who directed it.
Death Machine isn't very good?

It's Norrington's best movie! (not flawless, but a VERY enjoyable low budget SciFi Horror Action movie.)
Yes, I don't really like Blade. It starts great but begins to bore as soon as Udo Kier explodes. (But Blade II is seriously great!)

Shia better stay the hell away, although I don't hate him like other AICN fanboys seem to. He can be pretty decent, but he is far to scrawny for this he-man sword and sandal epic. STOP THE SHIA HATE! Give the dude his props. (but keep him far away from Clash of the Titans)

When was the last time anybody saw him in a movie? How is he doing? We need someone who can live up to Laurence Olivier and bring his sense of majesty to this fun flick. It's hard coming up with anybody of his stature.

For a B-movie, that scene packed an amazing amount of tension. As a kid watching it, I was on the edge of my seat, about to jump out of my skin from the anxiety induced by that scene. It was powerful stuff. Even if they cgi her in the remake, they need to copy that scene exactly. Keep the same pacing, camera angles, and everything.
