No question, PROJECT BLUE EARTH SOS has some of the finest design work I've ever seen, either in anime or live action. How the future SHOULD have been, as envisaged by pulp era covers of the 30s, 40s and 50s. I wouldn't go as far as the 60s, but even the designers of the Metropolis cityscapes from the '26 silent film would feel right at home. I approve.

...i think when the impossible happened and Studio Ghibli made a film i hated (Tales From Earthsea) it forever dented my anime loving brain cells.

But I am intrigued, might be cool to have it on blu-ray alongside the original...

As for our two animators here, Paprika is a real treat to watch and if you're looking for more unique works in that realm definately check out anything by Satoshi Kon like Tokyo Godfathers, Millenium Actress or Paranoia Agent. Sadly, big boobed anime girls will always be as prevalent in anime as cartoon animals are in American animation... And anyway I thoguht Steamboy wa awesome! The backgrounds used in that film are pretty awesome and based on a short film the director made in the compilation 'Memories.' If you ask me that was a pretty great breakthrough for 2D work... Anyway, waht do I know? I'm going back to finish MGS4 now...
My GITS 2.0 feelings aren't at all mixed.

FUCK THAT SHIT. Why mess with what not only isn't broken, but is a film that remains hugely influential and respected to this day? Updating STAR WARS was more justifiable, and that turned out to be a massive cock-up in the execution. The new stuff in the trailer for GITS 2.0 looks like fucking APPLESEED, not GHOST IN THE SHELL. Boooooooooooo. And thanks, WB, for pointing out it's from the director of SKY CRAWLERS. Because people needed reminding as to who directed GHOST IN THE SHELL. Fucking idiots.
Oh crap when did they re-release Appleseed??

Man I remember back in the day Suncoast use to have all 4 ( I think that's how many there were ) and I got 1 and 2 on clearence, but always been missing 3 and 4. Plus did a dubbed version of GITS:Innocense ever come out? I been out of the loop for a while since GITS killed all other anime for me.

A non-dubed version was released in North America because Dreamworks was too lazy and still managed to cock up the subtitles thus requiring a replacement disc. But a dubbed version released in Europe by another distributor that used the VAs from the StandAlone Complex series... However it's still to make it way to North America if I rememebr correctly, but indeed it is coming to double dip us... I'd only rebuy it if it's on blu-ray and I believe that's the plan... maybe they'll release it alongside 2.0.

I too believe 2.0 is unnecessary and I love the original more from what I've seen, but being a guy interested in the technical side of things in animation am interested in it just to see what they did... and the making-ofs which I'm sure they've included.
GITS 2.0, no reason and bad decision

Transferring from 2-d character's to 3-d character's is a really bad, bad idea. Especially when the original animation is so beautiful. GITS: Innocence had the best combo of both forms, except for a few scenes, and the CG APPLESEED was very disappointing.
