If not for Grey's Anatomy and Knocked Up, she'd be stroking the DVD covers of My Father the Hero and Under Siege 2 watching Sandra Oh on the show she missed the audition on.

And don't forget the horrible demands she made of her boyfriend when they were on tour. No drinks, no drugs, because that leads to groupies which will make you cheat on your bitch fiancée!

I feel very weird about what My Father The Hero star did, because it comes off both as bitchy and carring at the same time. Its bitchy because its like she's saying/demanding a better story line and carring because it sounds like she wants another actress to get a chance and that she doesn't like the fact that ABC is just using her fame in hopes of securing a win there fore boosting the ratings. I don't know, because it seems like Heigel is a bitch in real life.

The moral of this story is: "If Rosanne could change daughters between seasons, its not exactly difficult to change nurses."

To me it sounds like she does not want to be someone who won last year but does not even get nominated this year; she'd rather pull herself out of the running than risk not even making the short list.

Roswell made her a star, but only to us. The general public (ie, the people who the Emmys are for, where quality is passed over in favour of popularity) had no clue who she was until she was on Grey's. Between Roswell & Grey's, how was her career? Wasn't she doing Lifetime movies?

I was curious about those "Heigl Edition" Roswell DVDs that just came out. Herc mentioned he believed they are the same as the first set but simply repackaged with "Starring Emmy Winner Katherine Heigl", and her character very prominent on the covers. From what I remember of the original DVD set, there was little involvement from her in the extra features. I don't think she participated in any of the commentaries. I think the Heiglites will be somewhat disappointed to find that she is not the star of the show and at times has less to do than she did this year on Grey's.

And no one has mentioned the obvious real problem. the writing on Grey's was fine until Shonda Rhimes doubled her work load. She really thought she was so talented she could dash off both Grey's and Private Practice? double her work, cut the time spent on each show in half, do two shows per week? And though we never had a chance to see what she could do with Private Practice is she took time to write it properly, it was apparentlt hat both shows were suffering because of it.

And yes, any show sufferes when the writing begins to pander to what the network thinks the audience wants of expects from it.

i have never been able to force myself to watch an episode of Scrubs. NBC had hits with Friends and ER so it put them in a blender and mashed up Scrubs. But I can't criticize it, because I've never seen it. See how that works?

Exactly what was wrong with The OC in seasons 2 & 3. Killing off Marissa pissed off the same fans they had been pandering to, but ultimately made it a much better show.

malificus, Caruso may have been getting regular work before NYPD Blue, but no one knew who he was. NYPD made him a household name, which in turn got him better offers from film studios, bigger roles. He was the breakout star of a breakout new hit and he walked away from it, and quickly fell into obscurity. That's why he is held up as the poster boy for poor career choices. Sure he is on the #1 show on tv today, but that success came 10 or 15 years later. On the other hand, he did do Session 9, a movie that always creeps me out. You gotta hand it to him - despite being a Hollywood punchline for all those years, he didn't give up.

Oh yeah Deandome

Um the director of Series7 directs episodes of Greys and the star of Series7 is on the show now. I am just waiting for the episode for her to slap the shit of that ugly Lucy Lu actrss. God that women is fucking annoying to nth degree. Shit its no wonder Burke used her and dumped her ass.

Let's not forget the guy who was going to star in Knocked Up before he was replaced by Rogen causing trouble and swearing and arguing on camera. (Though, I still wonder if that was all an act)

To blame the writers for not giving you enough to do is just passing the buck. An Emmy-worthy actor should be able to make-do with whatever they are given. More screen-time does not make you more deserving of an award. Or does it? This is, after all, The Emmys we are talking about. The same organization that has routinely failed to acknowledge BSG, Veronica Mars, Angel, and, the biggest slight of all, The Wire. It's an award given most often to what's popular, not what's good.

So, to sum up, Katherine Heigl does not want an Emmy; no one here thinks she deserves one. It's all good.

If her dropping out frees up a spot do you think it will go to next "most deserving" actress? Or to whoever's is "next in line"? Heigl's competition last year was 2 from Sopranos (Bracco & Turturro), 2 from Grey's (Oh & Wilson), and Rachel Griffiths.

In all of TV land, the 6 best actresses in a supporting role came from 3 shows, 2 of them on ABC? I don't think so. The Emmys are powered by politics and popularity. Sopranos got the recongnition they deserved because it was their final season, and it was relatively popular. Grey's & Brothers/Sisters are big in the ratings.

My prediction for this category next year, sans Heigl, will be: Rachel Griffiths, someone else from her show, Sandra Oh, one more Grey's character (George's ex wife, maybe), Dana Delaney (or is DH considered a comedy?), Lisa Edelstein. Not saying any are undeserving, but are they the MOST deserving?

Besides who watches this shit anyway? I tried to watch it once since it was the big hit atop the ratings...I was curious what it was like as a medical show and all that...and it was vomit inducing. I swear I went from overweight to super model in one night because I hurled so much over how crappy this thing was. I'm telling you, any guy watching this show has no testacles and needs a blood transfusion of the Jack Bauer Power Hour immediately!
