This is one of the reasons why "Speed Racer" is important to go out and see. Even if WB and Emile Hirsch are acting like douchebags, taking the whole box office thing too hard. Former's not taking Silver's calls, latter is rumored to have fired his agent over it. I think he should've fired him after "The Girl Next Door". But, a lot of people are cautious about "Death Note" in an English Language version, but I don't care. This would be interesting to watch.

I really don't think this will pan out well. Tezuka's manga (like most manga) is treacherous to adapt; comics rely on that nil space between panels to work in proper sequence, and Tezuka was a master at that. Most motion pictures (animated or not) do not know what to do with this and have to find different ways to work it -- often to negative results.
Thought the live action Japanese Death Note

was awesome. Way better than I thought a live action movie of that series would be and way better than an American version would be. They got the moral decent of Light perfect and the character of L, I can't see any other version getting L better than that. Really cool to see a movie that doesn't try to paint a hero where there shouldn't be one and this was definitely the case here. I can't wait to see the sequel.
