"SEX DRIVE? Really!?!?"

Yeah, man. Really. It's just refreshing to see a teen sex comedy striving for THE SURE THING when most movies chasing that demographic nowadays would settle for ROAD TRIP. I mean, you don't walk into a movie called SEX DRIVE expecting the raunchiness to be offset by a Hughes-ian sweetness (and, yes, I'm aware Hughes had nothing to do with THE SURE THING; it's an evoking-the-era thing), but writer-director Sean Anders somehow pulls it off.

Though Anders's film wouldn't have a shot in hell of working without its three appealing leads (Josh Zuckerman, Amanda Crew and Clark "I want to bring back Chevy Chase" Duke), Anders gets huge assists from two very funny ringers: Seth Green and James Marsden. Obviously, Green's done this kind of thing before, but Marsden might surprise those who thought he'd retreat to pretty boy roles after clowning it up in HAIRSPRAY and ENCHANTED. Not a chance. Marsden's found his calling. And while I liked him in those other two movies, he's outdone himself as an outrageously obnoxious big brother in SEX DRIVE. The man is a spectacular ass.

The trailer gives you a pretty good idea of what Marsden's up to, but this extended red-band clip should leave no doubt. Bill Paxton must be proud.
